Boosting Efficiency in Japanโs Wire Rod Production
Danieliย has delivered a customย shiftable roughing millย toย Nippon Steel Corporationย for its Kamaishi plant in Japan. The advanced system not only enhances rolling precision but also improves operational flexibility and productivity. Moreover, its compact layout ensures efficient use of plant space.
High-Performance System for Precision Rolling
According to Danieli, the new mill enables twist-free rolling of 130โ168 mm billets at a capacity of 130 tons per hour. As a result, Nippon Steel can achieve more consistent output while maintaining high production speeds. The shiftable stands also allow faster billet charging and smoother transitions between product sizes.
Additionally, the billets produced feed directly into the Kamaishi facilityโs wire rod production line, ensuring a continuous and efficient manufacturing process
Optimized Danieli Roughing Mill Nippon Steel Kamaishi Introduces Advanced Equipment Design for Reliable Output
The Kamaishi facility produces various steel wire rod grades, including mild, low-alloy, spring, special melt, and bearing steel.
Key supplied equipment includes:
- Twoย mono-groove vertical and horizontal housingless stands, each moved by electric actuators.
- Aย three-strand wire rod millย fed alternately withย 122 mm square barsย in diamond configuration.
- An automatedย roll cartridge extraction systemย connected to aย roll shopย equipped with aย Danieli roll-changing robotย andย electric roll tilter.
- Aย three-strand pinch roll,ย spare cartridge units, andย steel grooved rollsย with roller guides.
Expanding Collaboration Between Danieli and Nippon Steel
This project builds on Danieliโs long partnership with Nippon Steel. The new roughing mill supports higher productivity, flexible billet rolling, and reduced maintenance downtime.
The investment highlights both companiesโ focus on efficiency, compact plant design, and advanced automation within Japanโs competitive steel industry.
