Nexans Airbus Aerospace Cable Agreement
Nexansย has deepened its long-standing partnership withย Airbusย through a new contract to supply specialized aerospace cables and wires. These systems form the electrical backbone of Airbus civilian and military aircraft and helicopters.
Under this agreement, Airbus recognizes Nexans as a major supplier of high-performance, lightweight cables. These products support aircraft efficiency, passenger comfort, and on-board safety. Over the contract term, Nexans will also develop new wiring solutions for future electric and hybrid aircraft.
Wiring Coverage Across Key Aircraft Systems
Nexans will provide most of the cables Airbus needs for its aircraft in the coming years. The scope covers essential systems such as theย cockpit, engines, cabin, in-flight entertainment, and wings.
The product range includes hook-up wire, power cables, data cables, avionics cables, and fire-resistant cables. Depending on the model, each aircraft can require betweenย 100 km and 350 km of cable, so reliability and weight optimization matter greatly.
Enabling Future Electric and Hybrid Aircraft
For next-generation Airbus concepts, Nexans will build on its provenย high-voltage (HV) cable prototypes, rated fromย 500 V to 3 kV, developed for theย E-Fan Xย project. That regional hybrid-electric aircraft demonstrator marked a major step in Airbusโs decarbonization path and moved the industry closer to zero-emission flight.
By leveraging this HV experience, Nexans aims to help Airbus improve electrical efficiency, support more electric architectures, and reduce overall emissions.
Global Production Support for Airbus
Nexans manufactures the cables it supplies to Airbus at several key facilities. Production currently takes place at plants inย Draveilย andย Paillartย in France, as well asย Mohammediaย in Morocco.
This distributed footprint supports stable supply, efficient logistics, and consistent quality for Airbus assembly lines and partners worldwide. It also positions Nexans to scale production as future aircraft programs advance.
