NKT lands cable order in Norway for energy project

NKT Secures Norway Cable Contract for Mjøsa Power Grid Upgrade

The NKT Norway cable project strengthens regional power infrastructure by improving energy reliability and transmission security. Through this contract, NKT will deliver advanced cable systems to support grid upgrades in Hedmark and Oppland, north of Oslo.

NKT Norway Cable Project Supports Grid Modernization

NKT has secured a turnkey contract from Eidsiva Nett AS, a major Norwegian power grid operator. Under this agreement, the company will supply two 145 kV AC extruded cable system sets for the Mjøsa Project.

The project will upgrade the grid surrounding Lake Mjøsa, a key energy region in Norway. In total, NKT will deliver approximately 35 km of high-voltage cable systems. As a result, the upgrade will enhance power availability and strengthen grid stability.

Advanced Manufacturing and Renewable Integration

To meet project demands, NKT will manufacture the cables at its facility in Karlskrona, Sweden. Production will take place this year, while commissioning is scheduled for 2019.

At the same time, the project will support the integration of renewable energy sources into the regional grid. According to NKT President and CEO Michael Hedegaard Lyng, the company continues to build on its strong experience in Norwegian infrastructure projects.

In addition, NKT is currently delivering cable systems that transmit power from shore to offshore oil and gas platforms. This expertise strengthens its position in both onshore and offshore energy markets.
