Nokia has completed the Nokia ASN sale, transferring ownership of Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) to the French State as of December 31, 2024. The government now manages the stake through the Agence des participations de l’État, strengthening control over strategic digital infrastructure.
Transition and Ownership Structure
Nokia will retain a 20% ownership stake in ASN during the transition period. It will also maintain board representation. However, the French State plans to acquire the remaining shares over time. As a result, ASN will become fully state-owned.
Expanding Global Subsea Connectivity
Alcatel Submarine Networks has deployed approximately 750,000 km of optical submarine cable systems worldwide. The company supports telecom operators, cloud providers, and content platforms.
Therefore, ASN plays a key role in global subsea connectivity and helps meet rising demand for international data traffic.
