Prysmian Signs Major Clean Path New York Agreement
Prysmian Groupย has signed aย $952.8 million agreementย withย Clean Path New Yorkย to supply and install advanced power cable systems. This project will become one of theย largest renewable energy transmission developmentsย in the United States.
Expanding Clean Energy Across New York
Theย Clean Path New Yorkย initiative represents anย $11 billion renewable investment. It combinesย 3,800 MW of wind and solar powerย from more thanย 20 generation sitesย with aย 175-mile underground and submarine transmission link. Together, these components will deliverย 7.5 million megawatt-hoursย of clean energy each yearโenough to powerย 1.5 million homes.
This massive project supports New Yorkโs vision to achieveย 70% renewable electricity by 2030. It will also improve grid stability, reduce emissions, and expand access to reliable green energy for millions of residents.
Prysmian Leads Transmission Development
Under this agreement,ย Prysmianย will design, manufacture, and install aย 400 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC)ย single-core cable system with XLPE insulation. The company will manage the entire processโfrom construction to commissioningโonceย Clean Path New Yorkย issues its notice to proceed inย Spring 2024.
โWe are proud to help New York reach its renewable goals,โ saidย Hakan Ozmen, EVP Projects Business Unit at Prysmian Group. โClean Path New York is not just a large-scale infrastructure projectโitโs a milestone in the North American energy transition.โ
A Partnership Driving Progress
The project is aย public-private collaborationย betweenย Invenergy,ย energyRe, and theย New York Power Authority (NYPA). These partners aim to modernize New Yorkโs power grid with state-of-the-art transmission systems while supporting local renewable generation.
Ozmen noted that this marks one of Prysmianโs firstย 400 kV HVDC interconnectorsย in the world. โThe agreement strengthens our leadership in both submarine and land cable technologies,โ he added. โIt highlights Prysmianโs dedication to building sustainable, forward-looking infrastructure.โ
Powering New Yorkโs Future
When complete,ย Clean Path New Yorkย will deliver steady, emissions-free electricity to the stateโs most populated areas. The project aligns government goals, renewable investment, and technological innovation to create a model for clean energy transmission nationwide.
