WCMA Annual Luncheon and Distinguished Career Award Event
Theย Wire & Cable Manufacturersโ Alliance, Inc. (WCMA)ย brought togetherย 120 members and guestsย for its annual luncheon and membership meeting onย Dec. 1, 2022, at theย Downtown Hartford Marriottย in Hartford, Connecticut. During the event, attendees heard a timely economic outlook, learned about new leadership roles and programs, and celebrated record charitable and scholarship donations.
In addition,ย John S. Traynor, Executive Vice President atย Cambridge Trust, shared insights on currentย economic, political, and manufacturing trends. He also highlighted the labor market and explained how workforce conditions affect companies across the wire and cable industry.

WCMA Annual Luncheon and Distinguished Career Award Leadership Updates
Members confirmed theย 2023 WCMA officers.ย David Fisherย ofย James Monroe Wire & Cableย will serve asย President.ย Chris Veniceย ofย Marmon Electricalย steps in asย Vice President, andย Tom Artinianย ofย Hitachi Cable (Proterial)ย continues asย Secretary/Treasurer. Meanwhile,ย Sue Welsh, now retired, remains involved asย Past President.
WCMA also strengthened its board by addingย John Dognazzi,ย Managing Director North Americaย atย Sikora, as a new board member. This appointment further broadens leadership representation from key segments of the wire and cable supply chain.
WCMA Annual Luncheon and Distinguished Career Award Support Young Professionals
The luncheon also highlighted theย WCMA Young Professionals group, which supports emerging talent. WCMA namedย Charles Glew, President ofย Cable Components Group, as the groupโs firstย chairman. Young Professionals held a networking session during the event to connect earlyโcareer participants with experienced industry leaders.
Glew will guide initiatives that promote mentoring and education for professionalsย 40 and under. Theย steering committeeย includesย Trish Weisbergย ofย Service Wire,ย Grant Campbellย ofย Multi/Cable, andย Paul Gemelliย ofย Gem Gravure. Together, they plan programs that foster career growth, peer networking, and industry knowledge sharing.

During the luncheon,ย Sue Welshย andย Executive Director Ed Fentonย introducedย Amber Schilberg, who now supports WCMAโsย marketing and administrative duties. Fenton also shared that WCMA welcomedย six new members, bringingย paid membership to 115.
