Roughing Mill

Used for preliminary roll­ing. Usually consists of horizontal and ver­tical edging rolls or a continuous train of horizontal rolls, depending on the nature of the finished product. The initial rolling processes to reduce the cross section as ex­peditiously as possible are therefore called roughing.
