The WAI Poland Chapter International Seminar 2023 brought together more than 80 attendees from 25 countries on November 23–24 in Radomsko, Poland. The event continued the chapter’s tradition of hosting technical seminars while highlighting new industry developments and honors.

The WAI Poland Chapter International Seminar 2023 took place at the METALURGIA Hotel and welcomed participants from 25 companies, both domestic and international. According to Chapter President Jan Pilarczyk, the event encouraged strong technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
Key Presentations and Industry Insights
On the first day, Robert J. Glodowski, principal of RJG Metallurgic LLC, delivered a detailed presentation titled “The Evolving Technology of Steel Rod Manufacturing.” Attendees responded positively to the depth of his insights.
Piotr Milewski of WireCo World Group translated Glodowski’s presentation into Polish and presented his own paper on the second day.
Recognition and Industry Awards
During the seminar, organizers presented the Professor Marian Schneider Award, the chapter’s highest honor, to Robert J. Glodowski. The chapter also recognized Jan Krnáč, who presented research on improving the quality of drawn steel wires for needle production.
Krnáč has contributed to 14 publications and helped develop advanced drawing technologies that improve technological performance in wire manufacturing.
Industry Discussion and New Award Announcement
The program included a panel discussion on the steel industry’s condition amid post-COVID challenges and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Participants explored how economic and political factors continue to impact global markets.
The chapter also introduced a new award honoring Henryk Dawid, founder of the DAWID company, a manufacturer of sieves and wire meshes. His son, Jerzy Dawid, and Vice-President Maciej Górak proposed the award to recognize industry contributions.
Poland Chapter History and Legacy
Henryk Dawid played a key role in the founding of the WAI Poland Chapter in 1997. Along with Jerzy Dawid, Prof. Bogdan Golis, and Jan Pilarczyk, he helped establish the chapter following discussions at Interwire events.
