The WAI Poland Chapter seminar held on October 19 brought together industry professionals for a technical session and chapter update. However, the event primarily honored the legacy of Dr. Bogdan Golis, a respected leader in the wire and cable industry, who passed away on June 29 at age 85.
Celebrating a Lasting Legacy
The seminar highlighted Dr. Golis’s distinguished career at Częstochowa University of Technology (CUT), where he served as Dean of Metallurgy and Head of the Department of Metal Forming from 1988 to 1996.
He joined the Wire Association International (WAI) in 1995 and later served as Vice President of the Poland Chapter from 1999 to 2010. In addition, he received the prestigious Mordica Memorial Award in 2000.
Dr. Golis also helped establish the Schneider Memorial Award in 2006, creating Poland’s highest industry honor based on WAI’s global recognition programs.
Industry Recognition and Tributes
Family members, including his wife and children, attended the seminar as honorary guests. At the same time, colleagues and industry leaders shared reflections on his impact.
Among them, Prof. Tadeusz Knych emphasized Dr. Golis’s dedication to advancing technical knowledge and promoting respect for scientific research. He also noted Golis’s lasting influence on education and the theory of wire drawing processes.
WAI Poland Chapter Leadership Updates
In addition, the chapter confirmed its leadership team. Jan Pilarczyk will continue as President.
