WAI’s Board of Directors cancels Interwire 2021; Industry 4.0 virtual conference set for Oct. 26-27, 2021

Interwire 2021 Cancellation Due to COVID-19

The Interwire 2021 cancellation reflects the Wire Association International’s (WAI) decision to prioritize health and safety. The biennial trade exposition and conference typically draws participants from 50 countries, including exhibitors, speakers, and attendees.

WAI’s Board of Directors made this decision after reviewing rising COVID-19 cases and ongoing safety concerns. The 2021 event would have marked the 40th anniversary of Interwire in Atlanta, Georgia.

Leadership Response and Industry Impact

WAI President Tom Heberling explained that the organization must deliver a safe, fair, and valuable event. However, current conditions made that goal difficult to achieve.

Even so, Interwire 2021 had strong momentum. The event planned to feature more than 200 suppliers and leading machinery manufacturers. It also aimed to provide essential face-to-face networking for the wire and cable industry.

Industry 4.0 Conference Moves Online

Instead, WAI will host its Industry 4.0 conference virtually on October 26–27, alongside the 91st Annual Convention. This approach allows WAI to continue supporting industry education and engagement.

As a global association with 1,800 members across 50 countries, WAI provides education, resources, and events for the wire and cable manufacturing industry.
