The Wire & Cable International Technical Conference will be held Oct. 18, 2027, at the new Padua Congress Center in Padua, Italy.
The Wire Association International (WAI) and the Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMAF) are organizing the one-day event, with the International Wire and Machinery Association (IWMA) participating as a partner. Up to 300 delegates are expected to attend.
Located in northeastern Italy, Padua offers a convenient meeting point for an international audience as well as a historic setting for the program. The conference will give delegates a full day to hear from industry specialists, learn about current manufacturing developments and connect with colleagues representing different companies, countries and segments of the industry.
Technical presentations will be divided between parallel ferrous and nonferrous tracks. The format will allow attendees to select the sessions most relevant to their operations while bringing both sectors together for the broader conference experience.
The program is expected to address manufacturing research, operations and production, with an emphasis on work that can provide delegates with a deeper understanding of current practices as well as emerging developments.
WAI has opened the call for presentations and is inviting industry specialists to share their knowledge of the current wire and cable manufacturing landscape. Proposed presentations should provide an in-depth look at an advancement, challenge or development related to manufacturing research, operations or production.
Submissions are welcome for either the ferrous or nonferrous track, and prospective speakers may also propose subjects beyond the suggested topic areas.
“The strength of this conference will come from the technical knowledge that participants bring to it,” said John Markowski, WAI director of education. “We want the program to reflect what manufacturers are working on now, including improvements that can be applied in operations as well as emerging developments that will influence the industry in the years ahead.”
Suggested topics include product development; artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0; system security; workforce training; production efficiency; material advancements; quality management; professional development; market trends and economic factors; safety and standards compliance; and sustainability and environmental impact.
The broad range of topics is intended to reflect the technical, operational and workforce challenges manufacturers are addressing throughout the wire and cable industry.
Abstracts are due Feb. 26, 2027. Acceptance notifications are scheduled to be sent by March 31, with final presentation materials due Sept. 30. The timeline will give organizers an opportunity to develop balanced ferrous and nonferrous tracks while providing accepted speakers with ample preparation time.
Abstracts may be submitted at bit.ly/padua-submit-abstract.
The conference schedule will also include time for attendees to visit tabletop exhibits. Participating companies will have an opportunity to showcase products, technologies and services in a focused setting, while delegates can continue conversations prompted by the technical sessions.
Following the conference and tabletop exhibits, participants will attend a gala dinner at Villa Giovannelli Colonna. The dinner will conclude the formal program and provide additional opportunities for delegates, speakers and participating organizations to network.
Further information about the technical program, tabletop exhibits, registration and related arrangements will be announced as planning continues.
