Installation in conduit? was created by Ms Anna Ingham
Should quad shield RG6 digital cable be installed in conduit if out exposed to the elements on a hot/cold tin roof? It is for a TV antennae installation.

Hello Ms Ingham,

Your cable as you have stated, would be outside and exposed to the elements including lightning. It would also be mounted on a metallic roof.

I personally would be quite cautious and install the cable in a small metallic conduit with the upper end sealed to prevent moisture ingress. The lower end of the conduit would be left open to drain any moisture that inadvertently got into the conduit. Moreover, I would make sure that the metallic roof, TV antenna and conduit are all properly grounded.

Finally, I would make sure to use moisture proof connectors on the cable.
