Wire temperature measurement

Dear All,
I´m trying to find a suitable portable infrared thermometer. My aim is to use it for wire temperature measurements on our drawing mills. As far as I know, the "spot size" is a key issue.
Despite the advantages mentioned by the producers of such instruments, I would be very pleased if somebody could give me an advice to help me in my choice.

You are correct in saying spot size is important - if you want accurate data. I have used a Minolta Cyclops for some years with good results. Not cheap, but very effective.

dear sir,
we have patenting process in our factory and temperature of furnaces abut 860 C degree. we are patentint wire from 2 mm to 5,50 mm. we are looking for infrared thermometer to measure temperature of wire at the end of the furnace. what model you advise us?
