Rod Storage

Wire experts,

I want to store some of our rod outside but cannot afford to have the rod rusty as the final application when converted to wire will be used for plating wires.

I can cover the rod outside with a tarrpaulin, but how do I keep the bottom stack from rusting.

Is there something that I can use to put on the ground then place the rod coils on top and still maintain a stable coil stack.

Any answers or experainces would be appreciated.

To avoid rust on rods stored outside is difficult particularly if humidity is high.

Rods for Plating Quality wires can admit some degree of rust, it can be removed prior and during drawing.

1.-A good Descaling System ( Mechanical or Chemical).
2.-An attachment after the last drawing die that removes lubricant and leave a bright finish.
3.- Leave the last die without lubricant.
4.- Use the carrier and lubricant adecuate for plating quality
