Wire Industry Calculations

I am fairly new to the Wire Industry and I am struggling to find resource to learn the calculations that go into making wire. Specifically, I am looking for resources that will help me break down the construction of a wire and give me the ability to calculate things like pounds per hour (lb/hr). 

Any help would be appreciated.
