Sticky aluminum wire was created by Luis Cardenas
Hello,
I was wondering if any of you has experienced issues with aluminum strands being 'sticky'. We have had issues where the strand will get stuck in between the loops and tangle on the reel as it is paying off (because of the 'stickiness'), which causes all kinds of problems downstream on the extrusion line.
Originally, I thought that the issue was bad winding generated in the previous process (stranding), but we have similar problems with nearly perfect winding as well. Also, copper strands coming from the same strander don't show that behaviour.
I have put in place some traps on the extrusion line (PLC program) to prevent the wire from tangling, but that doesn't really eliminate the root cause.
Maybe it has to do with our aluminum annealing practices?
Thanks.
