Time getting tighter for companies to send nomination for 2024 WAI Scholar

The deadline for the WAI Wire Link Traveling Scholarship 2024 is approaching quickly. Applicants must submit nominations by January 1 to qualify for this international professional development opportunity.

The WAI Wire Link Traveling Scholarship 2024 offers a unique experience for wire professionals. The selected candidate will travel to Europe, visit industry companies, and attend wire Düsseldorf 2024 in Germany from April 15–19.

Eligibility and Program Overview

WAI seeks ambitious professionals with at least two years of experience in the wire and cable industry or related sectors. Eligible applicants may work for manufacturers or suppliers.

The program alternates annually between a U.S. participant traveling to Europe and a U.K. participant visiting the United States. WAI partners with the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers of England to support the program.

Scholarship Benefits and Requirements

The scholarship covers all travel expenses in the U.K. and Germany, including participation in wire Düsseldorf. Employers only need to cover the employee’s time and transportation to the departure airport.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Full-time employment in the wire and cable industry for at least two years.
  • Active WAI membership in good standing.
  • Availability for an interview and two weeks of travel in the spring.
  • Employment with the nominating company during travel.
  • A signed letter of recommendation from a company representative.
