JDR Cable Systems has secured a major offshore contract from McDermott in the Persian Gulf. Notably, the project supports Safaniya, the world’s largest offshore oilfield, operated by Saudi Aramco.

Under this agreement, JDR will supply five thermoplastic umbilicals and related hardware. These systems will connect new production platforms to a subsea valve skid (SSVS). Supporting Safaniya Field Modernization
At the same time, Saudi Aramco continues to modernize the Safaniya field. The company is replacing aging infrastructure with electrified offshore platforms. As a result, it aims to improve efficiency and increase production capacity.
The field lies about 125 miles north of Dhahran. Moreover, it holds an estimated 37 billion barrels of oil reserves, making it a critical global energy asset.
Proven Expertise and Delivery Capabilities
Importantly, this contract marks JDR Cable Systems’ fifth project at Safaniya. Therefore, it highlights the company’s strong track record in delivering reliable subsea umbilical solutions.
JDR secured the project by emphasizing product quality and fast delivery timelines. The company will manufacture the umbilicals at its Littleport, U.K. facility. Delivery is scheduled for Q4 2018.
In addition, JDR operates as part of the TFKable Group, which continues to expand its global cable solutions portfolio.
