Submarine Cable Supply for Wind Farm
NSW will design, manufacture, and deliver 45 km of medium-voltage inter-array submarine cables. These cables will connect turbines at the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm, owned by Northland Power.
The company plans to complete delivery by spring 2019, ensuring timely support for the project’s development.
Installation and Project Scope
Van Oord will manage installation using its Aeolus offshore installation vessel and Nexus cable-laying vessel. These specialized vessels will ensure efficient and precise deployment of the cable system.
The wind farm sits in the North Sea, about 95 km northwest of Borkum, Germany. This location supports strong wind conditions and efficient energy generation.
Power Generation and Capacity
The Deutsche Bucht project includes 31 MHI Vestas turbines, each rated at 8.0 MW (8.4 MW Power Mode). Together, they will deliver a total capacity of 252 MW.
This project strengthens Europe’s renewable energy infrastructure and supports the transition to cleaner power sources.
